Rich was an active member of DefenderCup. He did not play every week like some of us, but he was always involved and willing to help out. Rich started playing in DefenderCup its second year of existance. A number of us were recruited (conned?) into playing in DefenderCup by Rich.
Obituary
Rich L. Edwards, 52, of Papillion, NE passed away on Monday February 5, 2018. Rich was born July 1965 to Roy and Marge Edwards of Spearfish, South Dakota. He grew up in Machesney Park, IL and attended Harlem High School. Rich married the love of his life, Trish (Sanders) in 1982. After graduation Rich joined the United States Air Force and with his amazing wife they traveled and lived in various US states and abroad. In 1994 Rich was stationed at Offutt AFB and made his home in Papillion, NE. Rich was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force where he served his country around the globe in various capacities. After his retirement in 2003, Rich remained working at Offutt AFB with his current employer being Northrop Grumman. Rich enjoyed bowling, golfing, the outdoors, hiking, fishing and playing cards. He shared his passion of bowling with the Special Olympics in Bellevue, where he served as a head coach. His true love was spending time with his family. Rich leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Trish; his three children, Scott (Trisha) Edwards, Cyndi (Brad) Edwards-Erxleben, Jacquelynn Edwards; his four grandchildren, Kayleigh, Bryan, Payton, Jackson; his parents Roy and Marge Edwards; his two siblings Randy (Melanie) Edwards, Rebecca (Eric) Newble; and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones. Rich will be remembered for his self-sacrificing spirit and his commitment to his family and friends. He had a youthful approach and brought joy to places that he worked and played.
